For the remainder of this term you will have the opportunity to work through your choice of persuasive projects. The expectation is that you will complete AT LEAST 2 of these projects, no less. However, don't rush them, I would prefer two that have been done very well than 5 of a poor quality.
Each project will have a rubric to help you understand how the piece will be assessed, you can work at your own pace however expect to share and be made accountable if you haven't been working hard enough.
Your task is to write a persuasive text for a topic of your choice. Your goal is to convince your reader to change their opinion on a subject using strong opinions and vocabulary to support your writing. Be sure to use research, facts and quotes and any other form of evidence you can find to support your argument.

Radio or TV Advertisement
You have just created a new product on the market - problem is there are many other products that are very similar.
You need to write an advertisement for either radio or TV promoting your new product on the market. The important thing you need to is make your product a point of difference to the others, that is, what makes your product the best? What is different about your product to other similar products?
Radios and TVs have different audiences, make sure you write a script that is suited to your choice of medium.
You currently hold the position of Councillor for your local area. The people you represent aren’t happy with a local law that has been in place for years and no longer relevant.
Your job is to convince parliament that you need to change that law in your local area, you know other Councillors won’t necessarily care for the change as it doesn’t effect them so make sure you are strong in your argument and provide good research and data to support it so that they will vote your way to pass the law.
Write a minute to two minute persuasive speech to convince Parliament to change your law.
Here is a list of laws from the Moonee Valley City Council (scroll down to page 18) - click here although they may be hard to understand so ask your teacher for help.
The Next Mayor
You are in the running to become the next guest Mayor for the City of Melbourne. You need to write a speech to the voting public to convince them they need to choose you to become this Mayor.
Why should you become Mayor, what will you do for them, how are you going to do it? What makes you more worthy than your other competitors?
Write a strong convincing speech that will force the voters to vote for you. Be prepared to present your speech to your classmates.
